Hutchison (1828-1913) was a surgeon noted for his expertise in other specialties, particularly dermatology. The illustrations to his atlas were issued in parts over a quarter century and are now infrequently found complete; 2 volumes of descriptive text were published in 1869-75. "The plates cover many of Hutchinson's major interests in dermatology--lupus, various purpuras, syphilis as well as many other more common skin diseases"--Heirs of Hippocrates 1946.
